London Man Slapped with Terrorism Charge Amid Knife and Threat Allegations
Court Appearance Sees New Terrorism Charge Added
Cavan Medlock, 27, from north-west London, appeared in court today, Friday 23 October. He now faces an extra charge of preparing terrorist acts, under section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.
Original Charges Include Knife-Related Offences and Threats
Medlock was initially charged on 8 September with several serious offences:
- Possession of a bladed article in a public place
- Threatening a person with a bladed article in public
- Racially aggravated public order offence
- Actual bodily harm (ABH)
- Making threats to kill
Remanded in Custody; Trial Set for May 2021
He first appeared via video link and was remanded in custody, with a planned hearing at Harrow Crown Court on 7 October. Following that, he was further remanded and appeared at the Old Bailey today, where the terrorism preparation charge was added.
Medlock remains in custody ahead of a plea and case management hearing at the Old Bailey on an as-yet-unscheduled date. A provisional trial date is set for 17 May 2021.
