Bicester Man Jailed for Dangerous Driving Spree
Danny Rayson, 28, from Pine Close, Garsington, has been locked up for eight months after a wild car chase put public safety at risk. The Oxford Crown Court sentenced him on 16 May following his guilty plea to dangerous driving, driving without insurance, and driving without a proper licence.
High-Speed Chase Through Pavements and Parks
The drama unfolded at 5.45pm on Wednesday 8 August 2018, when local officers spotted Rayson’s vehicle failing to stop on Purslane Drive. Instead of pulling over, Rayson took off, recklessly driving across pavements and recreational grounds.
Roads policing officers took up the chase, but Rayson went the wrong way around traffic bollards, making the pursuit too dangerous to continue. The police wisely called off the chase to protect the public and officers.
Justice Served After Investigation
Rayson was arrested on 12 April following a thorough investigation. He was charged the same day and later appeared at Oxford Crown Court, where he admitted all charges.
PC Brian Perry from the Joint Operations Unit said, “Rayson’s driving put members of the public, including children, and officers at serious risk. Thames Valley Police will not tolerate dangerous driving and take firm action to protect everyone on the roads.”
Rayson will also face a lengthy driving disqualification once he completes his jail term, giving him time to reflect on his reckless actions behind the wheel.
