Knife-Wielding Robber Caged for Over Four Years After Scunthorpe Store Hold-Up
Armed Robbery Shakes Local Shop
David Kenyon, 26, a homeless man, was sentenced to more than four years in jail last week. He launched a terrifying armed robbery at a convenience store on Scotter Road, Scunthorpe, back in September 2022.
On Sunday 4 September, Kenyon stormed the shop brandishing a knife. He threatened a female shop assistant, assaulted her behind the counter, and tried to access the till. Although he failed to steal any cash, he escaped with stolen tobacco packets.

Detective Inspector Leanne Murphy praised the sentence, saying:
“This sentence is a very good outcome and should serve as a reminder to anyone who is intent on a life of crime that your actions will catch up with you and will end up with a custodial sentence.”
DI Murphy added that thankfully, the shopkeeper was not seriously hurt but was left shaken. She hopes the victim can find comfort knowing Kenyon will spend the next four years behind bars.
