Met Police Officer Guilty of Faking Sexual Assault to Pervert Justice

A serving Met Police officer has been found guilty of perverting the course of justice after making false sex assault claims.

Officer Faked Child Sex Assault Claim

Hitesh Lakhani, 42, a police constable with the Central West Command Unit, was convicted at Kingston Crown Court on Tuesday, 10 December.

While off duty on 5 September 2018, Lakhani rang police reporting a child had been sexually assaulted. This sparked a full investigation, but no evidence supported the claim. CCTV analysis confirmed the alleged attack never happened.

Lakhani Faces Sentence and Misconduct Hearing

Lakhani remains on restricted duties. He is due to be sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on 10 January 2020. Meanwhile, a police misconduct process will follow now that the criminal case has concluded.
