Met Police Detective Charged with Sexual Assault
A serving Met Police officer is set to face court over a serious sexual offence.
Detective Constable to Appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court
Detective Constable Jose Poonsawat, from the Central South Command Unit, is due in court on Friday, 12 July. He faces charges of sexual assault relating to an incident that occurred while he was off duty on 16 December 2022.
Incident Occurred Off Duty Last December
The alleged incident happened in December last year outside of the officer’s official duties. Details of the case have not been disclosed publicly, but the charge is serious and under active investigation.
Officer Currently on Restricted Duties
Poonsawat has been placed on restricted duties pending the outcome of the court proceedings. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed the investigation is ongoing.
