Door Supervisor Caught Working on Suspended Licence at Popular Cambridgeshire Bar
A door supervisor has been nailed for working despite having a suspended licence at a well-known Cambridgeshire venue.
Licence Suspension Ignored at No6 Cocktail Bar
Amadu Tavares was on duty at No6 Cocktail Bar in St Neots on 10 May 2024 when Cambridgeshire Police carried out licence checks on door staff. Officers soon discovered his Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence had been suspended a month earlier, on 10 April 2024.
Failed to Attend Interviews, Pleaded Guilty
Tavares skipped two interviews under caution set by SIA investigators in July 2024. He later appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on 15 January 2025, admitting guilt under Section 3 of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 for working without a valid licence.
Fined £560 for Flouting Security Rules
The court slapped Tavares with a £200 fine, an £80 victim surcharge, and £280 prosecution costs — a total bill of £560.
Nicola Bolton, Criminal Investigations Manager at the SIA, said: “Mr Tavares chose to ignore the suspension of his licence, putting public safety at risk and undermining the integrity of the industry. The sentence handed down will serve as a strong reminder that non-compliance has serious consequences.”
SIA Vows to Keep Tight Grip on Licence Holders
The SIA says it will continue rigorous monitoring of licence holders to ensure high standards in the private security sector and protect the public.
