12-Year-Old Charged with Murder After Woman Killed by Her Own Car
A shocking tragedy unfolded in Sheffield as 60-year-old Marcia Grant was fatally struck by her own vehicle. Now, a 12-year-old boy stands charged with her murder.
Family Shocked as Social Worker Dies in Shocking Accident
The incident happened on Wednesday, April 5, around 7 p.m. in the Greenhill area of Sheffield, Yorkshire. Emergency services rushed to the scene but sadly pronounced Marcia Grant dead at the spot. Police swiftly arrested a nearby 12-year-old boy on suspicion of murder.
South Yorkshire Police confirmed the boy, whose name is withheld due to his age, has been formally charged. He is set to appear at Sheffield Youth Court on Saturday, April 8.
Tributes Pour In for ‘Pillar of Community’
Marcia Grant was remembered as a “warm, loving, and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend,” and described by her family as a true “pillar of her community.”
“Marcia’s death has sent shockwaves through everyone who knew her or was lucky enough to be in her orbit. We request privacy during this deeply painful time as investigations continue,” the family said.
Det Chief Insp Andrea Bowell spoke of the heartbreak: “This will be a deeply distressing time for the families involved. We ask for privacy as they seek to understand what happened.”
Scene Details and Neighbour Reactions
Officers, alongside Yorkshire Ambulance Service and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, found Miss Grant with serious injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Forensics cordoned off the area and examined a silver Honda Accord, which was seen with a black tarpaulin covering the passenger window. Floral tributes appeared nearby honouring the “beautiful soul.”
One stunned neighbour recalled, “I was drinking my tea when I heard a bang. Then people gathered, and the police and ambulances arrived. It was awful.”
