£150,000 Cash Haul Behind Port of Dover Bust

Two men have been charged after Border Force officers found over £150,000 hidden in vehicles leaving the UK via the Port of Dover.

Border Force Snags Cash Stash

On the evening of Saturday 24 October 2020, at around 6.30pm, officers stopped two vehicles attempting to exit the country. A thorough search uncovered £110,000 stuffed inside a van and £50,000 concealed in a car.

Suspects Arrested and Charged

Albert Murataj, 34, and Elton Allaraj, 30, both from Garden Close, Maidstone, were arrested on suspicion of concealing criminal property. They were charged following the haul and appeared at Medway Magistrates Court on Monday 26 October.

Bail and Upcoming Court Date

Both men have been released on bail and are scheduled to face Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 23 November 2020. The investigation continues as police probe the source of the cash.
