Roof Rumble at Swanley Nursery: Man Charged After Scaling Building
A 21-year-old man caused chaos when he climbed onto the roof of a children’s nursery in Swanley, forcing police to close a nearby road as they tried to coax him down.
Police Called to Roof Standoff
Kent Police were scrambled at 1.03pm on Thursday 14 June after reports of a man and woman spotted on the roof of a building on St Mary’s Road. The woman came down quickly, but the man refused to follow.
Six-Hour Wait Before Safe Arrest
Officers kept a close watch as the man remained perched high above, leading to a road closure for public safety. After more than five hours, he was finally detained at around 6.30pm and brought down without injury.
Charges Dropped: Criminal Damage and Assault
Troy Clark, 21, with no fixed address, now faces charges of causing criminal damage to the nursery property. He has also been charged with an assault linked to an incident earlier that same day.
Clark is set to appear at maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on 20 July.
