West London Burglar Jailed for Preying on Elderly

A notorious burglar who targeted elderly and vulnerable residents across west London has been locked up for nine years. Luke Connors, 23, from Northolt, was convicted of conspiracy to commit burglary and robbery after a two-week trial. The sentence was handed down at Isleworth Crown Court on July 3, following a guilty verdict on June 29.

Community Effort Cracks Crime Spree

Detective Superintendent Simon Moring of the Met’s Flying Squad praised the close cooperation between officers and local communities. “Luke Connors committed violent burglaries in north and west London. By listening and working with residents, we were able to investigate, detain, and convict him for his heinous offences,” Moring said.

Connors was linked to a string of burglaries between August 31 and October 28, 2022. One chilling attack involved an elderly man in his 70s in Ickenham. After returning from the pub, he was followed home by masked attackers, punched, and stabbed with a screwdriver before they stole his vehicle’s dashcam.

Neighbourhood Watch and CCTV Help Nab Crook

Local residents, including Ickenham’s Neighbourhood Watch, rallied together, providing crucial CCTV footage that helped police identify the criminals’ vehicle. The Flying Squad joined forces with local officers in west and north London, plus Hertfordshire and Thames Valley police, to link 11 burglaries in total.

Stolen loot—including cash, jewellery, and valuables—totalled a staggering £200,000. Detectives pieced together the crimes using vehicles and stolen goods as clues, backed by evidence from neighbourhood watch teams.

Police Praise Brave Communities for Fighting Back

“Residents were understandably very nervous, afraid even of giving evidence against the perpetrators. However, we all realise that unless our communities step forward and support our police, then the criminals have won, and we descend into a state of lawlessness.” – Ickenham Neighbourhood Watch member

The lengthy probe used CCTV reviews, ANPR data, and surveillance. Connors was caught in Paddington Green on November 1 and charged. Two others arrested alongside him now await trial.

Strong community spirit and police teamwork smashed this crime gang and delivered justice for west London’s most vulnerable.
