Southampton Murder Trial of Lucy McHugh Killer Kicks Off Today
Stephen Nicholson, 24, faces trial today over the chilling murder of schoolgirl Lucy McHugh. The former Southampton care worker pleaded not guilty to Lucy’s murder and sexual activity with a 14-year-old back in January at Winchester Crown Court.
Shocking Crime Rocks Southampton Community
Lucy McHugh, just 13, was found stabbed to death in woodland near a Southampton sports centre on 26 July last year. She was last seen alive on CCTV around 9am the day before, heading to the spot where her body was tragically discovered by a dog walker.
Massive Police Hunt for Missing Murder Weapon
Addresses linked to Nicholson were raided and a large-scale police and public search was launched to find the missing murder weapon. Nicholson has been held in custody since his arrest and awaits the trial starting today, 18 June 2019.
