Shock as Schoolgirl Attacked in Southampton Play Park While Dozens Watch
A Southampton play park was sealed off and guarded by police after a schoolgirl suffered a brutal attack on Tuesday evening. Around 5.30pm, the girl was punched, kicked, and dragged by her hair while up to 40 children looked on, doing nothing to stop the violence.
Horrific Attack Caught on Camera
Residents near Green Park, Wimpson Lane, reported hearing the girl’s desperate screams as she begged her attacker to stop. One witness said the girl was on the ground, shielding her head from relentless blows. Shockingly, several onlookers reportedly filmed the attack on their mobiles instead of intervening.
The victim was rushed to Southampton General Hospital with serious head injuries.
Disturbing History of Violence in the Park
The attack took place just yards from where a young talented artist was kicked to death by a group of youths months ago. The site has become infamous for violent incidents involving vulnerable youngsters.
Emergency Response and Community Outrage
Emergency services responded swiftly, with South Central Ambulance Service sending two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle. Police deployed 15 vehicles to the scene due to the large crowd present.
“If you are a parent of one of the children in the crowd, supervise their internet activity sharpish. No justification for this kind of injury. Do the right thing.” – Kayleigh Wallace
“This makes me feel sick. So sad for this poor little girl, I hope she is OK. Shame on the vile children who stood around watching.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses
A Hampshire Police spokesperson said:
“We were called at 5.42pm to reports of a girl with serious head injuries following an assault in Green Park. She was taken to hospital. We deployed 15 police vehicles because of the number of young people reported at the scene.”
“Anyone with information is urged to contact Hampshire Police on 101.”
The community remains shaken by this vicious attack and is calling for parents to take responsibility and keep a closer eye on their children’s behaviour – both in the playground and online.
