Man Stabbed to Death in Cardiff Tent: Killer Caught After Bizarre Shopping Spree

Jordan Cody-Foster, 31, was tragically stabbed to death inside a tent on Hansen Street, Butetown, Cardiff, at around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Despite the heroic efforts of emergency services and staff at the Huggard Centre, Jordan succumbed to his injuries.

Suspect Flees on Bike, Goes Shopping Before Arrest

Steven White, 44, fled the scene on a bicycle. In a strange turn, he stopped at Cardiff Bay Retail Park, where he bought a stereo from Argos and a book from Asda—items he later claimed were for his time in jail.

White was arrested two hours later on Habershon Street, Splott. Midway through his trial at Cardiff Crown Court, he pleaded guilty on June 8, 2022. He was sentenced at the same court shortly after.

Family Speaks Out: ‘Justice Has Been Served, But The Pain Remains’

“Jordan was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, father, and friend, and we are still in mourning,” said his aunt, Delphine Darien.

“He was brutally taken from us by Steven White for no apparent reason. This has deeply affected everyone who loved Jordan.

“Justice has been served. While it won’t bring Jordan back, we can now begin to mourn in peace. The agony will never end, and we will never stop loving him.”

Delphine also thanked South Wales Police detectives, the prosecutor, and the Family Liaison Officer for their ongoing support throughout the trial.

Police and Huggard Centre Mourn the Loss

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Davies, the lead investigator, said: “Jordan Cody-Foster was a much loved son, nephew, cousin, brother, and father. Our hearts go out to his family and friends.

I hope today’s verdict at Cardiff Crown Court brings some comfort to those who knew and loved Jordan.

His death shocked the community, especially staff and residents at the Huggard Centre. Their brave efforts to save him and assist our investigation have been invaluable.

This tragic incident lays bare the devastating consequences of knife crime. South Wales Police continue their commitment to stamping out knife crime through prevention and prosecution.

“If you suspect someone is carrying a knife, please contact the police. Speaking up could save a life.”

Richard Edwards, CEO of the Huggard Centre, added: “Everyone who knew Jordan and witnessed the stabbing has been devastated. Despite our staff’s heroic attempts to save him, Jordan died close to where he lived.”

“The work we do at Huggard supports those experiencing homelessness and trauma. There are no quick fixes, but we will continue to provide help for as long as it’s needed.”

Campaign to Tackle Knife Crime: #NotTheOne

While knife crime remains relatively rare in South Wales, authorities stress the importance of vigilance and prevention.

The #NotTheOne campaign aims to educate young people, parents, teachers, and community groups about the dangers of carrying knives.

South Wales Police urge the public: be alert and report any knife carrying to help prevent further tragedies.
