Teen Girl Killed, Another Seriously Hurt in North Yorkshire Minibus Crash
A tragic crash has rocked North Yorkshire after a minibus carrying nine teenagers smashed into a car near Tadcaster Grammar School. One teenage girl died instantly, while another was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
Seven Injured, Woman Arrested at the Scene
The white Mercedes Sprinter minibus, packed with teens aged 16 to 18, collided with a Hyundai i10 just before 12:30pm on Monday. Seven other passengers and the minibus driver suffered minor injuries and were treated in hospital.
North Yorkshire Police arrested the 40-year-old female driver of the Hyundai on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The smash occurred at the busy junction of Toulston Lane and Rudgate as the Hyundai entered Toulston Lane.
School Closure and Police Appeal for Witnesses
Tadcaster Grammar School will remain closed Tuesday due to safety concerns following the horrific collision.
Police are urging anyone with dashcam footage or who saw the crash to come forward immediately to aid their investigation.
“The incident happened on Toulston Lane – at the junction with Rudgate – at around 12.28pm on Monday,” confirmed North Yorkshire Police.
“The white Mercedes Sprinter minibus was heading towards Sherburn when the Hyundai entered Toulston Lane.
“Tragically, the girl died at the scene. Another teenage girl was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
“Other passengers and the minibus driver received treatment for minor injuries.”
“Toulston Lane remains closed as enquiries continue.”
