Hackney Predator Zyroam Allen Jailed for Rape and Sexual Assault

Zyroam Allen, 18, from Hackney, has been locked up for four years at Wood Green Crown Court. He was found guilty of ten shocking sexual offences, including rape, sexual assault, and indecent exposure.

Crimes Terrorised Hackney Marshes Locals

The attacks happened in broad daylight around Hackney Marshes in June 2022. Allen targeted women and girls walking or jogging, often grabbing them inappropriately before speeding off on his bike. One victim was even raped, leaving her fearing for her life.

One survivor said she no longer feels safe walking alone by the canal but praised the police for their strong response and clear communication, which helped the community feel safer.

Police Crack Case with CCTV and Witnesses

The Metropolitan Police launched a massive investigation, reviewing over 400 hours of CCTV footage and gathering numerous witness statements. Officers from several teams worked together to stop Allen before he could strike again.

Allen was caught after breaching bail on an unrelated matter and was identified by six victims in a police lineup. Forensic tests later linked him to another assault.

Judge Lifts Anonymity as Predator Turns 18

Although Allen was a minor when he committed the crimes, the judge lifted his anonymity since he turned 18 the day after sentencing. In December 2022, he pleaded guilty to one count of rape, one of indecent exposure, and seven sexual assaults.

“Every woman has the right to live without fear of sexual assault,” said Detective Constable Kate Robins. “We commend the bravery of the victims and remain determined to target offenders.”

Met Police Pledge to Protect Women and Vulnerable People

The Met is ramping up patrols and community support through its “A New Met for London” plan. The focus is on protecting women, girls, children, and vulnerable people from violent crime.
