Three Teens in Custody for Leysdown Beach Murder
Three teenagers have been charged with the brutal murder of 49-year-old Alexander Cashford, who was fatally attacked on Leysdown beach last Sunday evening.
Teen Trio Faces Murder Charges
The suspects include a 16-year-old girl and two boys aged 14 and 15, all from London. They appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, charged with murder by joint enterprise.
The case has now been sent to Maidstone Crown Court. They are due to appear before a senior judge on Thursday 14 August. All three have been remanded into secure accommodation pending further proceedings.
Violent Assault Caught on CCTV
Kent Police were called to Warden Bay Road shortly after 7pm on Sunday 10 August following reports of a fight involving a small group.
Paramedics found Mr Cashford with severe head and body injuries and pronounced him dead at the scene. Prosecutors say the attackers met up on the beach in a pre-arranged assault.
CCTV and video evidence shown in court revealed Mr Cashford being struck on the back of the head with a glass bottle, repeatedly kicked while on the ground, and hit with rocks.
Investigation Continues – Another Arrest Made
A 12-year-old girl was arrested in Basildon, Essex on Tuesday in connection with the incident and remains in custody as police inquiries continue.
