Thief Busted for Overnight Raids on Cars and Garages in Kent
A serial thief has been locked up for a string of overnight crimes targeting vehicles and garages in Sittingbourne and Maidstone.
Shane Baker’s Crime Spree Uncovered
Shane Baker struck fear into local motorists between October 12 and November 1, 2021. He hit three vehicles, snatching cash and power tools. He even broke into a private garage in Hollingbourne, making off with more tools and valuables.
Police caught Baker after reviewing CCTV footage from two crime scenes. When arrested on November 1, he was found carrying 13.6 grams of amphetamine.
Multiple Charges and Stiff Sentence
Baker faced a slew of charges: burglary, attempted car theft, theft from vehicles, attempted theft, and possession of class B drugs.

- Nine counts of vehicle interference
All offences happened in Sittingbourne over just three weeks. Baker pled guilty at Maidstone Crown Court and was sentenced to 2½ years behind bars on July 20, 2022.
