Crime Squad Cracks Down with 27 Arrests and Hardcore Sentences
The Chief Constable’s Crime Squad has smashed crime across the county, making 27 arrests in January 2022 alone. They secured authority to slap 37 charges on crooks, sending a clear warning to criminals everywhere.
Nurses Turned Thieves Jailed for Stealing from Dying Patients
Among the most shocking cases were two women sentenced to five years each for conspiracy to burgle. Posing as nurses, they targeted at least 25 homes between December 2020 and August 2021 across Thanet, Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay, and Faversham.
They stole end-of-life care packages stocked with morphine and powerful painkillers, betraying the most vulnerable. Crime Squad detectives pieced the puzzle together with CCTV and phone records, catching the duplicitous duo in the act.
Serial Burglar Nabbed After Stealing Luxury Cars and Watches
A career crook who hit 17 homes in Gillingham, Rochester, Higham, Gravesend, and Shorne between October 2019 and February 2020 also got nine years and two months behind bars.
He broke into 10 properties, making off with prized Porsche, Audi, and Jaguar sports cars, plus an eye-watering Rolex watch. The Crime Squad’s dogged evidence gathering led them to raid his hideout and bring him down.
Pub Violence and Ongoing Busts Keep Crime Squad Busy
In a nasty fracas at a Gillingham pub, one man bit a victim’s nose and upper lip in a violent disorder, causing heavy bleeding. He is locked up for 15 months.
Meanwhile, investigations continue: four men are in custody charged with commercial burglaries across Gillingham, Gravesend, Maidstone, and Sussex, where cartons of cigarettes were stolen.
Two others face charges for a ram raid in Dartford using a moped to smash into a business, clearing out £3,000 worth of hair care products.
A 17-year-old boy was remanded for robbing a man of an e-scooter and jacket at knife-point in Canterbury.
“We started 2022 the way we’ve run since day one — targeting high-harm criminals and ensuring robust sentences,” said Detective Chief Inspector Matt Talboys.
“We never want to see anyone impacted by crime but, when it happens, we deliver strong results. Our team serves every neighbourhood, big or small, with no let-up in hunting offenders and using full powers to secure justice.”
