Smethwick Shooting: Trio Jailed for Over 25 Years

Three men have been locked up for a combined total of more than 25 years after a shooting rampage at City Computers on Bertram Road, Smethwick. The drama unfolded on 12 January when gunshots rang out at the business. Two men in their 40s were injured but escaped life-threatening harm.
Swift Police Action Nets Convictions
Officers raced to the scene just after midday. Their investigation quickly cracked the case, resulting in guilty pleas from all three convicted men.
- Haider Shabir, 20, from Lane Avenue, Walsall – 14 years behind bars
- Mohammed Uwais Latif, 23, from Alumwell Road, Walsall – 9 years and 10 months for firearm possession with intent to endanger life
- Mohammed Tayyib Wajid, 25, from Jessel Road, Walsall – 21 months for assisting an offender
Another Suspect Faces Charges
Meanwhile, 20-year-old Ahmed Aumair, also from Walsall, is charged with two counts of attempted murder, criminal damage, and firearms offences. He is due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court later this month.
