Nottingham Debt Horror: Victim Dragged from Home and Brutally Beaten

A man from Hyson Green, Nottingham, was snatched from his home and taken to a business in Alfreton Road. There, he was forced to pay back a debt three thugs claimed he owed. The gang threatened to harm his family if he didn’t hand over the cash.

Trio Jailed for Brutal Assault and False Imprisonment

  • Shalaw Omer, 30, Bulwell – 21 months behind bars
  • Shaho Omer, 23, The Meadows – 19 months jailed
  • Bharoz Rashid, 51, Carlton – 18 months sentenced

The trio appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday 25 April. All pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Shalaw and Shaho Omer also admitted false imprisonment. Each received a five-year restraining order banning contact with the victim, directly or indirectly.

CCTV Captures Brutal Beating and Pleas for Mercy

The victim was kidnapped from his home around 9pm on 29 October 2022. He was dragged into a back room where the savage beating unfolded. Footage shows Shalaw Omer striking the man with a wooden pole before calling Rashid. A video call followed, capturing the victim begging Rashid. Meanwhile, Shaho Omer relentlessly kicked and punched him for over 20 minutes.

Police Speak Out on Violent Ordeal

“This was a very serious and violent incident and we were determined to get justice for the victim,” said Detective Constable Rebecca Brosgarth of Nottinghamshire Police.

“It must have been an extremely frightening ordeal for him and I hope the sentences handed down provide some comfort. This sort of incident is thankfully extremely rare but will always be met with a robust response from the force.”
