Brutal Attack in Moseley: Two Convicted Over Craig ‘Yankee’ Dean’s Murder
Final Moments Outside Springfield Road Home
Craig Dean, known as Yankee, was viciously assaulted outside a Springfield Road address in Moseley, Birmingham on 7 July. A heated text message argument turned deadly when 23-year-old Hamza Khan and 25-year-old Mohammed Rahman rolled up in a Vauxhall Corsa around 4:50pm and launched a savage attack. They stomped and kicked Craig’s head even after he had collapsed, then fled the scene, leaving him critically injured.
Police Crack the Case with Rapid Detective Work
Officers worked round the clock, sifting through CCTV footage to identify the attackers. Forensic analysis on discarded drink cans found at the scene linked Khan and Rahman’s DNA to the crime. Khan was tracked down at a holiday rental in Worcestershire on 16 July. Meanwhile, Rahman was arrested at Heathrow Airport on 25 July as he tried to flee the UK.
Justice for Craig as Murderers Convicted
Craig’s life support was switched off just two days after the attack, on 9 July. Both men have now been convicted of murder at Birmingham Crown Court. Sentencing is scheduled for 24 February.
