Two men locked up for stabbing that killed young dad after petrol station brawl
Two 19-year-olds have been jailed for life after a deadly stabbing at a petrol station sparked a violent brawl that left three men injured, including one who died.
Fatal Fight Erupts at Petrol Station
On 17 March 2022, a heated argument broke out at a Richmond petrol station. The confrontation between two groups quickly escalated into a knife fight, leaving three men stabbed. Among them was 31-year-old Mirko Naramcic, who later died from his injuries in hospital.
“Mirko had spent the day drinking and enjoying the company of friends. His night ended with him being violently attacked and ultimately losing his life,” said Detective Chief Inspector Geoff Grogan. “This case, once again, highlights what can happen when people go out armed with knives without thinking about the consequences.”
CCTV and Phone Data Crack the Case
Police were first called to Maguire Drive, Richmond, around 11:20pm, but found no victims at the scene. Hours later, Mirko and two others arrived at hospital with stab wounds.
Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command tracked the suspects using CCTV footage and mobile phone analysis, uncovering critical movements made on the night.
Lead suspect Leone Davies, of Twickenham, fled the scene and headed to a woman’s house. She — identified as Eve Carter — helped destroy his phone, hoping to throw police off the trail. But detectives recovered the device and extracted vital evidence.
Justice Served: Two Men Get Life Sentences
On Tuesday, 19 December, both Leone Davies and co-accused Justin Romano, 19, of Kingston, were convicted of murder and wounding with intent. They were sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 20 years.
Eve Carter later pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice and awaits sentencing.
The brutal stabbing has left a lasting impact on Mirko’s family and friends. Police continue to warn about the deadly consequences of knife crime on the streets.
