Party Nightmare Ends in Brutal Home Invasion

Two men were out partying in Kingston-upon-Thames on the night of August 18 when they met a 43-year-old man who invited them back to his home. But the friendly invite quickly turned sour.

Terrifying Break-In and Attack

The victim soon grew uneasy and asked the men to leave. Later that night, after he went to bed, loud banging came from his front door. The two men returned – this time with an accomplice – and forced their way inside.

Armed with a saw and hammer, they pushed into the man’s 14-year-old son’s bedroom. They punched and kicked the father before fleeing with his phone, watch, and cash.

DNA Leads to Two Jail Sentences

The pair were identified through DNA on a water bottle left behind. Darnell Laxmidas-Elias (20) and Nathan Walters-Coles (19), both from Mitcham, pled not guilty to aggravated burglary but were sentenced at Guildford Crown Court.

The third attacker is still at large.

“This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim and his teenage son which made them fear for their lives,” said Detective Constable Lisa Larkin.

“They would likely have received longer sentences if not for being only 17 at the time. Their jail time sends a clear message that violent crime won’t be tolerated.”
