Terrifying Carjacking Attack on Woman at Castle Marina

Keiran Moss and Darren Dunstan launched a terrifying violent attack on a woman trying to park her car alone. The brutal duo forced open the driver’s door before Moss put the woman in a headlock, dragged her out of the vehicle, and snatched her phone.

Moss handed over the phone to Dunstan, then forced the terrified victim to open the boot and get inside. When she tried to fight back, Moss grabbed her neck and threatened, “Don’t be stupid or I’m going to beat you up,” before punching her twice in the face. The woman eventually escaped and ran screaming for help.

High-Speed Getaway and Arrests

The victim suffered injuries to her face, neck, and shoulder during the attack on 4 September 2021 at Castle Bridge Road, Castle Marina. The pair gave chase briefly before jumping into the woman’s car, with Moss driving off at high speed towards Leicester.

Automatic number plate recognition cameras tracked the car. Police arrested Moss and Dunstan just an hour later. While in custody, Dunstan assaulted a police officer and racially abused another.

Guilty Pleas and Harsh Sentencing

  • Moss was charged with robbery and driving while disqualified.
  • Dunstan faced charges of robbery, assaulting an emergency worker, and racially aggravated harassment.
  • Both men pleaded guilty and appeared at Nottingham Crown Court.

An impact statement from the victim revealed the lasting trauma: “This whole experience has been life-changing and has caused me to suffer flashbacks and anxiety. It has left me worried about the safety of my family.”

Judge Rupert Mayo described the attack as “terrifying” with “life-changing consequences.”

Jail Sentences Deliver Justice

Moss, 36, of Wheatacre Road, Clifton, was sentenced to five years and three months. Dunstan, 37, from Shakespeare Street, Nottingham city centre, received five years behind bars.

Detective Constable Gillian Cutts of Nottinghamshire Police slammed the attack: “Moss and Dunstan’s actions that night were absolutely deplorable – but thankfully, following swift action by Nottinghamshire Police, they have been locked up and taken off the streets for a significant time.”

“Robbery can leave lasting physical and emotional scars. This type of crime deserves severe punishment, and these sentences send a strong message to anyone thinking of committing such acts.”
