Firearms cops caught falsifying training records! Sergeant Hayley Russell and PC Chris Strickland, from the Specialist Firearms Command, have been slapped with a final written warning after admitting to lying on crucial firearms training documents.
Faked Training Logs Exposed
Back in November 2019, both officers faked their firearms continuation training records. This breach of honesty and professional conduct didn’t go unnoticed.
Misconduct Hearing Finds Them Guilty
Following a thorough investigation and hearing, an independent chair ruled they committed one proven misconduct. Both received final written warnings, but avoided harsher penalties.
Commander Speaks Out on Breach of Trust
Commander Kyle Gordon slammed the pair’s actions:
“We require all our firearms officers to train regularly to stay competent and protect the public safely. This includes mandatory ‘reclassification’ shoots. One officer skipped parts of this training, and both falsified documents claiming they’d completed it. “Although their ongoing training meant they were still qualified to carry firearms, this behaviour breaches our core values of honesty and integrity. The sanction reflects that.”
