25-Year-Old Charged Over Radford Stabbing That Shook Nottingham
A violent stabbing in Radford left a young man hospitalised and sparked a major police crackdown over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Knife Attack on Norton Street
Emergency crews raced to Norton Street just after 8.30pm on Saturday, 3 May, after reports of a fight. Police found a man in his 20s with a serious stab wound and a stolen mobile phone, Nottinghamshire Police confirmed.
Thankfully, the victim’s injuries were non-life-threatening. He is now recovering in hospital.
Suspect Mohamed Gawi Faces Serious Charges
Mohamed Gawi, 25, of Egypt Road, Nottingham, has been charged with:
- Grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent
- Possession of an offensive weapon
- Theft
Gawi appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 5 May and has been remanded in custody. He will next face Nottingham Crown Court on 2 June 2025.
Swift Police Action Thanks to CCTV
The arrest came after an intense investigation using the city’s extensive CCTV network. Officers sealed off Norton Street for a forensic sweep.
Detective Sergeant Nigel Malik said: “Thanks to the thorough use of CCTV and strong local policing, we were able to make an arrest quickly, bringing reassurance to the community.”
