Chaos at Britannia Hotel: Two Arrested Amid Migrant Protest Mayhem
Police have charged a woman and arrested a man following a string of incidents connected to ongoing protests outside the Britannia Hotel in Canary Wharf.
Woman Charged With Assault and Offensive Weapon
The Met Police confirmed 22-year-old Channay Augustus from Tower Hamlets faces multiple charges. These include possession of an offensive weapon, affray, assault on an emergency worker, common assault, and possession of cannabis.
Augustus lives in the flat that was unlawfully entered during one of the chaotic episodes. The affray and assault charges stem from a Wednesday night scuffle at the Britannia Hotel involving a security guard.
Viral Video Leads to Man’s Arrest
Earlier that day, a clip went viral online showing a man entering a residential flat after being told to “go back to the hotel.” He was swiftly detained by passersby nearby.
Police swooped in the early hours of Friday morning, arresting a man in his early 20s—described as a suspected migrant—in Hackney on suspicion of common assault.
“We can confirm that this is the man who allegedly entered the flat,” police said.
He remains in custody while Augustus is set to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court today (Friday).
