Murder Probe Launched After Woman Found Dead in Woolwich Flat

A murder investigation is underway after 43-year-old Marianne Kilonzi was found dead in her Woolwich flat on Argyll Road last week. Police were called to the scene at around 5:25pm on 17 January following concerns for her welfare.

Officers discovered Marianne’s body inside the property. A post-mortem revealed blunt force trauma and a head injury as the cause of death.

Detectives Search for Suspect Known to Victim

Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Soren from Specialist Crime South is leading the investigation. She revealed the suspect is likely someone Marianne knew.

“At this early stage, we believe the suspect was known to the victim, and we are carrying out urgent enquiries to trace a named individual,”

“This is a deeply distressing incident, and our thoughts are with Marianne’s family and friends as they try to come to terms with this tragic loss.”

Police Issue Urgent Appeal for Information

Officers are hunting for the suspect and have urged anyone with information to come forward immediately. DCI Soren said:

“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual in the area of Argyll Road on 17 January to contact us immediately. Even the smallest detail could help us piece together the events leading up to Marianne’s death.”

Community in Shock, Pleads for Calm

Neighbours described Marianne as a “kind-hearted and friendly” woman who had lived locally for years. The Woolwich community expressed deep shock at the tragedy and offered condolences to her family.

Local leaders have called for calm while police continue their inquiries, urging residents to help with any information that could assist the investigation.

The police have confirmed the investigation is ongoing and promised further updates soon.
