Tragedy in Langwith Junction: Elderly Woman Dead, Man Critical
Couple Found with Serious Injuries
Police were called to a chilling scene on Station Road, Langwith Junction at 9.30am on Saturday 15 January. EMAS paramedics discovered an 88-year-old woman and an 88-year-old man with severe injuries in a house. Sadly, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man is fighting for his life in hospital.
Family Supported Amidst Shock
The couple’s family has been informed and is receiving specialist support. Authorities urge the public to respect their privacy during this heartbreaking time.
Heavy Police Presence and Urgent Appeal
Officers remain stationed at the scene, with a substantial police presence expected to remain for several days. Divisional Commander Chief Superintendent Hayley Barnett said: “This is an understandably shocking incident for the community. Our thoughts are with everyone affected, especially the family and friends of the victims.”
She added: “Residents will see more officers around Station Road as we investigate. We’re deploying all resources, including regional Major Crime teams, to get to the bottom of this.”
The force is urging anyone with information to come forward urgently and confidentially.
