Protests Turn Deadly: Stranded Motorist Killed on M20 as Activists Block Roads
Shocking M20 Crash Amid M25 Protest Chaos
A car slammed into a stranded motorist and a Good Samaritan on the M20 hard shoulder, killing one of them — a mother of three. Lisa Webber, in her late 30s and mother to four, was named by her father Clive Kraus on Twitter. The other victim, a GP in her 40s, had stopped after a minor collision.
The tragedy unfolded just four hours after two Just Stop Oil activists, Morgan Trowland (39) and Marcus Decker (33), began a 40-hour protest suspended 120 metres above the M25 at the Dartford Crossing, triggering chaos across Kent and Essex roadways.
Activists Accused of Having ‘Blood on Their Hands’
Marcus Decker’s dangerous climb on the QEII Bridge caused gridlock as desperate drivers diverted to the M20, creating a nightmare for emergency services. One hospitalised driver, Mark from Essex, blasted the protesters: “They may not have intended to hurt anyone, but they’ve got blood on their hands now.”
Ex-Met detective chief inspector Mick Neville weighed in: “They may not have directly caused the M20 accident, but if their reckless demonstration hadn’t happened, these tragedies wouldn’t have occurred.”
Police Probe Continues, No Arrests for Fatal Collision
Morgan Trowland and Marcus Decker were arrested and charged with public nuisance over the protest, but no arrests have been made in connection with the fatal M20 crash. Investigations remain ongoing.
Fireworks were reportedly thrown at officers bringing in a cherry picker to remove activists blocking the M25. Traffic congestion delayed emergency services by nearly 40 minutes, contributing to the tragedy.
