Man Arrested Over Shocking Wigan Murder
A 35-year-old man was arrested in Sheffield this morning on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. He was taken into custody and is now being questioned by detectives from GMP’s Major Incident Team.
Victim Found with Gunshot & Acid Attack Wounds
The tragic discovery of Mr Smith’s body was made on Kilburn Drive, Wigan, on the evening of Thursday, November 24, 2022. He died from a fatal gunshot wound combined with an acid attack in what detectives describe as a “swift and well-planned” assault on a man previously unknown to police.

Detective Chief Inspector Gina Brennand said: “This is a shocking murder of a much-loved family man. This sickening violence will not be tolerated in Greater Manchester. Our investigation is moving quickly, and we are piecing together events leading to Liam’s death.”
She urged anyone who saw suspicious activity that evening to come forward, promising utmost confidentiality. “It only takes one crucial piece of information to bring answers to Liam’s family and friends.”
