Driver High on Drugs Arrested After Killing Woman in Reading Crash
A 44-year-old woman was tragically killed after being hit by a car in Reading in the early hours of Saturday morning. Thames Valley Police have launched an urgent appeal for witnesses to come forward.
Fatal Collision on Inner Distribution Road
Just before 12:45am on 21 October, a white Range Rover struck the pedestrian on the slip road between the Castle Street and Oxford Road roundabouts. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but sadly the woman died instantly. Her family have been informed.
Driver Arrested Over Drug-Related Crash
A 30-year-old man from Reading was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving while over the legal limit of a controlled drug. He was later released under investigation as police continue their inquiries.
Police Seek Witnesses and Taxi Drivers
“I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the female pedestrian in the carriageway before it happened,” said PC James Lovell of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit. “In particular, any taxi drivers who stopped to speak to her before the incident could hold crucial information for this investigation.”
The crash is not linked to an earlier fatal collision in Great Knolly’s Street the same day. Several roads were briefly closed but have now reopened.
