The dad of a 19-year-old woman tragically killed by the family Lurcher has issued a stark warning: “just how quickly a dog can take away a life.”

Tragedy Strikes in Leaden Roding

Police were called to a home in Long Hide, Leaden Roding, near Dunmow, at 10:45pm last Friday. There, they found Jamie-Lea Biscoe with fatal injuries. Emergency services pronounced the teen dead at the scene. The dog, a blue-merle lurcher named Shy, was seized by officers.

Dad Speaks Out: ‘She Was My Daughter’s Best Friend’

Jamie-Lea’s father, Jack, shared heartbreaking details. He said Shy had no history of aggression and was a “genuine family dog” who had been part of the family since puppyhood.

“She was my daughter’s best friend and she still killed her,” Jack told the Sun.

Jack returned from KFC with his partner to find Jamie-Lea unconscious in his bedroom, with a bite wound to her neck. Shy attacked him too, biting off part of his ear and leaving puncture wounds in his arm.

“I found Jamie-Lea with a hole in her throat and she was dead. I tried to revive my baby, but the dog attacked me too.

“It turned very violent on Friday night and my 19-year-old daughter sadly lost her life. I thought I could trust that dog with my life and it took my daughter’s life. “I lost my entire life on Friday when my daughter was murdered by another member of my family.”

Police Investigate as Family Launches Fundraiser

Jack was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control, causing death. He was released on bail Saturday night. The family has set up a fundraiser to cover Jamie-Lea’s funeral costs.

“Jamie-Lea was the kindest, most beautiful young adult,” reads a statement from her family.

“She had been the family pet for 7 years and never showed aggression before this tragic incident. We want to give Jamie-Lea the best send-off. Thank you for all your support.”

Experts Alarmed by Rare Fatal Attack

Colin Spender from the Canine and Feline Behaviour Association called the tragedy “very unusual.”

“It’s unheard of for a lurcher to cause fatal injuries. Any dog is capable of serious harm, but this is rare,” said Spender, who has over 30 years experience training dogs.

Jack’s warning is clear: “Treat dogs as dogs. Be careful.” A family’s nightmare shows just how fast a beloved pet can turn deadly.
