Family of Four Tragically Killed in Horror A82 Crash Named
Heartbreak on the A82
Police Scotland have confirmed the identities of four victims who died in a chilling road traffic collision on the A82, north of Fort William. The victims are Gemma Cousin (née Davidson), 26, Rhys Cousin, 25, and their two young daughters Peyton, 3, and Heidi, 1.
The family lived in the Inverness area and were travelling northbound in a green Mini Cooper when the fatal crash happened near Torlundy at around 5.30pm on Thursday, 20 August 2020.
Devastated Families Speak Out
A statement from their extended family through Police Scotland described the profound loss:
“Both families are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Gemma, Rhys, Peyton and Heidi. They were a young family with so much to look forward to. To have their lives cut short so suddenly and in such circumstances is utterly devastating.”
The statement added that Gemma and Rhys worked hard to provide a loving and secure home for their daughters. “They were totally devoted to their girls and known by many. Their loss will be felt far and wide.”
The families also thanked emergency services for their efforts on that night and asked for privacy to grieve during this heartbreaking time.
Details of the Crash & Ongoing Investigation
The other vehicle involved was a red Ford Fiesta, driven by a 56-year-old woman who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities are urging anyone with information — especially those who saw the vehicles prior to the collision or have dashcam footage — to come forward.
