Vulnerable Pensioner Targeted in Gloucester Purse Theft
An elderly woman in her late 70s has been left shaken and out of pocket after a suspected coordinated theft on Eastgate Street, Gloucester. The incident has caused her significant distress and financial loss.
Thieves Strike While She Shops and Visits Bank
The victim reported shopping at several stores and visiting a local bank when a group of people loitered nearby, talking to her. It was only later she discovered her purse had been stolen.
The theft happened between 1:40 PM and 2:10 PM BST. The thieves then used her bank card to brazenly withdraw £800 from a nearby cash machine, adding insult to injury.
Police Hunt Gang Caught on CCTV
Detective Inspector Jane Smith from Gloucester Police said: “This crime targeting vulnerable members of our community is deeply troubling. We urge the public to be vigilant and come forward with any information that could help identify those responsible.”
Police have reviewed CCTV footage and spoken to witnesses but haven’t identified any suspects yet. To move the case forward, officers have released images of the group believed to be behind the theft.
Public Appeal for Information
Inspector Smith added: “We believe someone in the community may recognize these individuals or recall suspicious activity around the time of the incident. Even the smallest tip could be crucial in bringing these criminals to justice.”
