Knife Threat Sparks Armed Police Response
Armed police swooped on a Birmingham shop after reports a man threatened to stab people with a knife. The drama unfolded just before 11am on Washwood Heath Road today (22 August), when the suspect rushed into a mini market wielding a blade.
Police Dog Tracks Down Fleeing Suspect
The man, believed to be 25, fled to a nearby park. But officers and a police dog quickly cornered him. He was arrested at gunpoint and taken into custody without incident.
Officers Praise Swift Action
“This was a very dynamic incident and it was imperative we got officers to the scene to apprehend the man and protect the public,” said Superintendent Jack Hadley. “Thankfully no-one was hurt and the suspect was swiftly traced to a park area where he was handcuffed and arrested.”
