Brighton Man Nabbed Over Stolen Goods at Local Shop
A 45-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, February 14th, after Trading Standards cracked down on a Brighton shop suspected of selling stolen items.
Police and Trading Standards Seize Hot Chocolate Powder and Mini Eggs
Officers were spotted loading evidence bags marked “Hot chocolate powder” alongside popular treats like Cadbury’s Mini Eggs during the raid at the Family Shopper on St James’s Street. The police were still on site late into the evening, around 7:30pm, gathering evidence.
Trading Standards and Police Work Hand in Hand
A spokesperson for the police said: “Police were called to support Trading Standards at a shop in St James’s Street, Brighton, at around 1.15pm on Tuesday, February 14th. A 45-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and remains in custody at this time.”
A council spokesperson added: “During an inspection at Family Shopper, 20 St James’ Street, our Trading Standards team found a large number of items suspected to be stolen. The team called the police and handed the scene over to them.”
Man Remains in Custody as Investigation Continues
The arrested man is currently held in custody while police continue their enquiries into the stolen goods scandal rocking Brighton’s local retail scene.
