Man Arrested on Terror Suspicion After Arriving from France

A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences linked to the Syrian conflict as he arrived in Folkestone from France. The arrest, made by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, was carried out under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

Quick Arrest at Folkestone Coach Station

Officers swooped at around 00:50 on Tuesday, 1 May, just as the man stepped off a coach entering the UK. He was immediately detained under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) and taken to a kent-police/" title="Kent police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Kent police station for questioning.

Released Under Investigation

After being held, the man was later released under investigation on the same day, as police continue their inquiries into links with the Syrian conflict. No further details have been disclosed.
