Serious Head-On Crash Closes Newport to Freshwater Road
Emergency services rushed to Middle Road tonight after a violent head-on collision involving two vehicles near the Brook Road crossroads. Four fire engines, police, and ambulance crews swarmed the scene to free and treat those trapped.
Road Shut as Rescue Teams Work
The main Newport to Freshwater Road is closed in both directions while firefighters cut open a white Toyota Yaris to rescue its driver. The crash also involved a blue Honda. Police expect the road to remain shut for hours as investigations continue.
One in Serious Condition
Paramedics stabilised the Yaris driver at the scene, placing them on a spinal board before rushing them to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport. The patient was taken away on blue lights and is in serious condition.
Three Others Treated on Scene
Three additional people received treatment from paramedics at the roadside. Emergency crews remain on site as they continue to manage the aftermath of this nasty smash.
