Masked Mugger Threatens Staff with Air-Pistol in Bold Petrol Station Raid
Just after 10pm yesterday (04/04), a hooded man launched a terrifying robbery at an Esso petrol station. Wearing all black and armed with what’s believed to be an air-pistol, he threatened a staff member before snatching cash and cigarettes.
Suspect Description and Escape Route
- Height: Around 5ft 6ins
- Build: Medium
- Accent: English
- Clothes: Black jeans, dark hoodie (hood up), face covering, glasses, gloves
- Footwear: Black trainers with white soles and three white stripes
Reports say the suspect came from the Wootton Bassett Road direction and fled on foot. Just before the robbery, a man was dropped off at the station by a car that then sped off towards Wootton Bassett Road. Police think the driver may have seen the suspect walking nearby.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and CCTV Footage
“This was an extremely frightening experience for the member of staff,” said Det Insp Chris Feerick. “Thankfully, they were unharmed but left shaken.”
“We want to hear from anyone who saw a suspicious man dressed in black in the area last night. We’re especially keen to speak to the driver of the car who dropped off a male passenger just before the robbery. The vehicle left the scene just as the suspect was heading to the garage.”
“If you have CCTV, dashcam footage, or any information, please get in touch. Expect a strong police presence in the area as we carry out enquiries.”
