Terrifying Pushchair Snatch Attempt in Dorset
Dorset Police are hunting two men who tried to snatch a four-month-old baby from a pushchair on Evering Avenue at around 3pm on Friday, June 10, 2022.
The mother was out walking when the pair pulled up in a white van, jumped out, and grabbed the pushchair. One man attempted to yank the baby from it, but the quick-thinking mum kicked one attacker. The men fled back to their van, leaving the infant unharmed.
Suspects Described as Tall, All-Black Dressed Men
- First man: White, 6’2″, mid-30s, medium build, short dark brown hair, wearing black vest, trousers, and sneakers. He has a tattoo on his right hand.
- Second man: White, 6’2″, medium build, short stubble, dressed all in black with a thin silver chain around his neck.
Police Launch Full Investigation, Urge Public to Check CCTV
“This was understandably a very distressing incident for the mother involved,” said Detective Inspector Katie Starkie of Bournemouth CID. “We have launched a full investigation. The motivation behind their actions is unknown. We are doing everything possible to identify them.”
Police are asking anyone with home CCTV, doorbell cameras, or dashcams who were near Evering Avenue at the time to check their footage. Officers will increase patrols in the area to reassure the community.
