One Arrest Made as London Police Crack Down on Protests
London cops have arrested a man during protests in Trafalgar Square tonight.
Man Nabbed for Violent Disorder
At 7.40pm, officers swooped on a man in Trafalgar Square, arresting him on suspicion of violent disorder. He was already 1 over a June protest. The suspect is now in custody at a central London police station.
Heavy Police Presence Across London
The arrest was part of a wider operation backed by City of London Police and British Transport Police. Officers remain on high alert following a week of often violent, illegal gatherings.
More unlicensed events are expected tonight. Cops have deployed extra specialist teams across boroughs to support local forces and crack down hard.
Police Promise Tough Action Against Disorder
Commander Bas Javid, in charge of Frontline Policing, said:
“The protests today were mostly peaceful. We arrested a man wanted for violence linked to earlier unrest this month and continue enquires to find others involved. “As this operation winds down, we’re preparing for another night of boosted policing. The rise in officers on the streets is in direct response to unlicensed, risky gatherings that have caused real concern. “I want to reassure the public: our specialist officers are ready to act swiftly and firmly. Any violence will be met with zero tolerance.”
London remains on edge as police stay determined to keep the peace and prevent further chaos.
