Dispersal Order Slams Down on Epping Over Protest Fears
A strict dispersal order kicks in across Epping from 2pm on Thursday 24 July, lasting until 8am on Friday 25 July. This move comes amid worries about possible anti-social behaviour tied to protest activity in the town.
Wide Area Under Watch
The order covers a large zone including the town centre, transport hubs, and the busy Epping Tube Station. Police have powers to break up groups or individuals suspected of causing or planning disruption.
Police Warn: Keep It Peaceful or Face Arrest
Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow stressed the order is not aimed at lawful or peaceful demonstrations. Instead, it’s designed to keep the local community safe and ensure public order.
“If you’re planning to come to Epping during this 48-hour period, be aware you must not cause disruption. Failure to comply could see you arrested and prosecuted,” said Anslow.
Summary
- Dispersal order enacted due to protest-linked anti-social behaviour fears
- Police have authority to remove troublemakers to prevent disruption
