SeaMore Project to Unify Treasures Across Museums
The ambitious SeaMore project will gather key artefacts from five different museums into one cutting-edge Centre for Discovery at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. More than two million items, now scattered across 14 buildings and nine sites, will come together for the first time, making naval history more accessible than ever.
Royal Marines Museum Gets a New Home
A highlight of the deal is the long-awaited move of the Royal Marines Museum to Portsmouth. This will boost the museum’s appeal by placing the thrilling story of the Royal Marines right at the heart of Britain’s naval heritage.
“This project will revolutionise how visitors experience the epic story of the Royal Navy,” said a NMRN spokesperson. “Bringing our collections under one roof unlocks an exciting future for naval heritage.”
