Six fire crews and a water carrier battle a massive barn blaze in Dorking this morning.
Blaze Tears Through Goldenlands Farm Barn
Crews from Dorking, Reigate, Leatherhead, Salfords, Epsom, and Painshill, plus a water carrier from Guildford, rushed to the scene just before 8am on Tuesday. The fire erupted at Goldenlands Farm on Punch Lane after owner Andrew Bark alerted the fire service. Bark is said to be devastated by the loss.
Firefighters Fight 100% Damaged Barn
Using two hose reels and four jets, the crews are tackling the blaze in a barn completely destroyed by flames. Working alongside the farmer, who is moving hay with a telehandler, firefighters are dampening down hot spots and turning over debris to prevent flare-ups.
Power Shut Off as Fire Rages On
UK Power Networks have been called in to cut power to the farm for safety. Fire officials expect the operation to last several hours. Surrey Fire and Rescue are teaming up with Surrey Police to investigate the cause of the fire. Locals are urged to keep windows and doors closed due to thick smoke.
