Southampton Sports Centre on Lockdown After Body Found in Woodland
Chaos hit Southampton this morning as police descended on the Sports Centre after a body was discovered in nearby woodland.
Body Found at Dawn Sparks Full Police Response
Hampshire Constabulary officers arrived at the scene early on Thursday 26 July following the grim find. The investigation is still in its infancy, and police are urging the public to steer clear of the area while they work.
Local Shock and Distress
A nearby resident, who wished to remain anonymous, described the chilling start to their day: “At around 7am I heard a load of screaming and then suddenly the place was flooded with police cars and vans.”
A dog walker, horrified by the discovery, said: “It’s horrible to think of a dead body being found around here, especially because so many families use this area at the weekends because it is so close to the sports centre. It would have been terrible if a youngster had found it.”
