Wiltshire cops get extra time to quiz 31-year-old over Swindon murder probe

Detectives are stepping up their investigation after a man was found critically injured on Manchester Road, Swindon, and later died in hospital. The 31-year-old suspect, arrested on suspicion of murder, has been given more time to face police questioning.

Man Found Injured Outside Manchester Road Home

The seriously injured victim, believed to be in his 20s, was discovered around 5:10am on 2 July lying on the pavement. Despite emergency treatment, he tragically passed away in hospital.

Police Zero In On Single Suspect

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker confirmed:

“We are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this tragic incident, and I would like to send my condolences to the family of the victim.

The initial scene cordon on Manchester Road has been scaled back, with traffic now flowing. Officers thanked local residents for their patience amid the disruption.

Witness Held Vital Clues – Police Plea

Officers are on the hunt for a witness who alerted them to the incident but left without leaving contact details. Police believe he may hold key information.

They’re also appealing to anyone in the area during the early hours who might have:

  • Seen or heard anything suspicious
  • Captured dashcam or CCTV footage
