Teen on the Run After Brutal Attack on Elderly Woman in Chelsea
Violent Assault Rocks Quiet Chelsea Street
A shocking attack took place just before noon on Monday, Jan. 6, when a 79-year-old woman was punched in the head outside her home in Chelsea. The victim was walking her dog near the corner of West 17th Street and 8th Avenue when a verbal argument with a teenager turned violent.
The teen, described as wearing all black with bright red sneakers, suddenly struck the elderly lady in the face, leaving her with painful bruising. After the assault, the suspect fled westbound along 17th Street.
Emergency Teams Rush to Scene
Officers from the 10th Precinct and EMS arrived quickly to treat the victim on site. Thankfully, she did not need hospitalisation but was visibly shaken by the brutal attack.
Police have now released surveillance images of the suspect and are appealing to the public for help in tracking down the youth responsible.
