New Inspector Takes Charge to Crack Down on Crime in Nottingham

Inspector Steve Dalby is the new face of policing across St Ann’s, The Meadows, Sneinton, Mapperley, and The Wells and Clifton. After 19 years in the CID, he’s ready to make these vibrant neighbourhoods safer.

Cracking Down on Knife Crime, Drugs, and Violence

Dalby’s top priorities are serious violence, acquisitive crime, and drugs. “Serious violence is thankfully rare, but knife crime and violence hit hard,” he said. His team is working closely with the force’s knife crime unit, Operation Reacher, local councils, and the Youth Justice Service to prevent criminal behaviour.

“Drugs and related crime devastate communities. We’re determined to lock up dealers, remove drugs from the streets, and educate the public,” Dalby promised.

Experience and Community Focus at the Forefront

With 23 years of policing under his belt, Dalby brings a sharp investigative edge and a passion for public protection. “My career has focused on keeping the vulnerable safe,” he explained.

He’s keeping the same beat team for continuity and wants to build on the work of former inspector Karl Thomas, teaming up with charities and community groups.

Calls for Residents to Speak Up and Stay Involved

Dalby is urging locals to get involved. “The public knows how they want to be policed. We need to hear what makes you feel safe and what concerns you,” he said.

“I want the community to report issues confidently. Every tip will be reviewed and treated with the utmost confidentiality. I’ll keep everyone updated on police actions tackling crime in your areas.”
