Two Arrested After Daylight Stabbing Shakes Peckham
A shocking stabbing in broad daylight has brought chaos to Peckham on Friday afternoon. Police swooped in after a 19-year-old man was stabbed near the busy junction of Peckham High Street and Rye Lane around 1pm on December 2nd.
Roads Shut and Police Swarm the Scene
Both directions of Peckham High Street, Peckham Hill Street, and Rye Lane were shut down as officers established a police cordon. Multiple police cars and officers flooded the area, turning the usually bustling streets into a lockdown zone.
Transport was hit hard with bus services including the 12, 36, 37, 63, 78, 136, 171, 177, 197, 343, 345, 363, 381, 436, P12, and P13 all disrupted by the closures.
Victim Stable, Two Men in Custody
A Met Police spokesperson confirmed: “Police were called at 12:57pm on Friday, 2 December to reports of a stabbing at the junction of Peckham High Street and Rye Lane, SE15.”
Emergency teams treated the 19-year-old victim at the scene before rushing him to hospital. Thankfully, his injuries are not life-threatening.
“Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody,” added the police.
Investigations continue as Peckham reels from this violent daytime attack.
